In Honor Of Fathers

Today is Father's Day, a day to honor the father's of the world for all they do. I am fortunate. My father is still very much alive and well. My father has always been my champion, again I am fortunate. I grew up believing in hero's, I lived with one.

My father was not thrilled when he first heard I was going to become a hypnotist. He only wanted the best for his daughter. Well, he was open to hearing about hypnosis and why I believed in it's possibilities. He now not only approves, he is one of my strongest advocates. WOW! My father visits me at my office often. He has said to me on many occasions, "How did I get such a wonderful daughter?" I have no answer, I am humbled, after all, how did I get such a wonderful father?

My sons are lucky as well. They have two dads that love them. I am divorced from their biological father. He is still very much a part of their lives and mine. We may not do marriage well, but we sure can co-parent!

I am married to a man who is much like my father. Because, he too, is my hero. He took on a single mom and two young sons, married us all ten years ago. Yes, married us all. You see, when we exchanged vows and rings, he made vows to the boys as well. He promised to never try and replace their dad, but to be there for them, like a dad. He promised to love, protect and guide them. He gave them rings to match his as a symbol of that promise.

My husband is there for the homework, the projects, the chores, the driving to events, etc. He enforces the rules, brings home rewards and surprises us with frozen yogurt for no apparent reason. As I have said before, he always brings home the laughs.

So this video is a tribute to my Dad, as I am Daddy's little girl. However, don't be fooled, it is also a tribute to my husband because I admire him so.

Debbie,

Thank You for this post honoring Fathers on this Special Day. I, too, am Blessed with a Very Special Man for a Father...and his strength and love in recent times of crisis has been remarkable. No matter what is going on in our lives, we are very blessed, aren't we?

Been reading your blog for some time.

I think you have written a wonderful post here in honor of fathers. Sometimes, words of appreciation like these make the efforts all worthwhile.

Great post Debbie and it is nice to remember your Father today. Mine is very much in my mind today as unfortunately he is suffering with Alzheimers disease and is in a care home. He adopted me and my two brothers and with my mother bought us all up very well. His love and support for us has always been strong and he is a very special father.

@ cindy,

I know you have seen your Father's strengths recently. I also know you have been his. Blessings your way.

@jeflin,

thanks for your kind remarks.

@ eastcoastlife,

thank you and the same to you (as well as positive wishes for your son's continued recovery.)

@ mircea,

glad you enjoyed both, really glad you have the dad you do!

@capybara,

I am sorry your father is suffering and you along with him (for him). My parents adopted my younger brothers, for which most of the time I am grateful. Remember they are brothers and younger, cut me slack on all of the time. :)

As a father of 4 daughters (Dixie Rose, Scarlett Rose, Savannah Rose, Delta Rose), with a 5th girl (Georgia Rose) due in 7/08, and all 4 of them have been "Daddy's little girl" from birth, and as far as I know, all still remain.

I feel for my wife though. Her relationship with them has no bond like that to enjoy. She has 2 sons, which her female stands greater than the male, but She has said more times than I can count, that she is just blessed to actually have a father in their lives, that will raise them in admonition of the Lord. Something she is very safe in knowing that they will one day be women of honor.

I honor my wife this day, because without her, I would never have known the joy of 4 girls in my lap overflowing with love for me alone.
